Film Speed - ISO

Film comes in different "speeds." Film speed is a measurement of how sensitive film is to light. This sensitivity is expressed as an ISO number, the higher the film speed the more sensitive it is to light.

Choosing the right film speed is essential. When you are shooting pictures in a dark situation, you need to choose a more sensitive film so you can properly expose your film. And, likewise, if you are shooting pictures in a very bright environment, you need to choose a film that is less sensitive to light.

Some common film speeds are:

  • ISO 64
  • ISO 100
  • ISO 125
  • ISO 200
  • ISO 400
  • ISO 800
  • ISO 1600
  • ISO 3200
